THIS TIME NEXT WEEK

Yes this time next week I will be in Paris for the launch of the Fatsarazzi X WeSC collabs at Colette. There will also be 5 portraits on show above the cash register, & will be on show till then end of January.

Sadly it is quite a closed event as people are limited as there will be another Vernissage in the back gallery...so places are tight & we have already sent invites out via North Pr.

All that is left to say is amjor big thanks to Colette & my WeSC family...everything looks good & the future is Bright.

Be Well & I will some of you in Paris.

ETHNICITY

Yesterday I getthis message from Che #1 Son asking me if I was Indian, African or what ? At first I was suprised at him asking...I was like, 'Are you stupid, you don't know'. But then it got me thinking, perhaps he does not know, because in Dog Terms...I am quite a Mongrel.

I do not know much about my real fathers side of the familly other than the fact that he was Born in Mumbai (Bombay...I still like to call it that) & went to live in Kenya until such time he went to College in the UK some time in the 60's. So i do know that he is Indian & although Born in Bombay, he has some Gujarati links.

Now on my mum's side of things...it gets a little more fun. My Grandfather was Born & Raised in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. He was raised in what was the Arab Quarter & that is where he grew up. His family Originated fro Gujarat, but many fucking moons ago they immigrated west, through the arab states...hang out a long time in Yemen, where the Hasham name came into play. They were traders, & in the end Hashamite Horse Traders. They kept moving & ended up in Africa, East Africa to be exact & that is where they stayed till the late 60's. My Great Grandmother, my Grandfathers mother was from Bagdad...so when I look at that side alone & add my father...we have, Inida, Yemen, Jordan, Iraq, East Africa...there will be a little white man in there as my Grandfather had Blue Eyes & his Swahili name was 'MachumZungu' which means 'White Man's Eyes'...so i think there was a bit of something something going on for a little bit....

My Grandmother on my Mum's side was Born in Zanzibar of Northern Indian & Arab decent...but still some Gujarati connection in the mix.

So when Che asked I sat & thought about it...in the end I am some Afro/Indo/Arabic mix...I quite like the idea of that melange of cultures & people. But then when I think of Che, Solo & Dante...they are Afro/Indo/Arabic/Spanish/Irish/Scottish mix...now that is a good Melange.

I just wanted to share this with you.

Be Well.

BACK TO THE GRIND

Wow...feels like it has been ages since I was last in the office.

& WIth that epic journey home from Stockholm & the illness that followed makes me feel like the time off was a lot longer than it really was. But here I am sitting at my desk trying to feel good & optimistic about the year ahead. It is going to be hard, but confident that all that is in place will eventually make quite a difference. You put in the work & it will happen. My Dad always says, 'The Harder you Work, the Luckier you get' I am paying homage to that philosophy.

It was a good break though...did manage to have a lot of fun with the boys over Christmas & No2 Solo hit 13...so i got another teenager...I don't feel old at all : ) Even managed to spend some quality time with Mickey, which is a plus in the end. But as with life there were a few things that brought me down a bit, but I will not bore you wit the facts, as everything else was quite positive.

So a few interesting things in the immediate pipeline & there are opportunities to be had on the horizon...that is the good that I am focusing on.

All that is left to say is Happy New Year, take it & make it yours.

Be Well.

A HOMAGE TO JOHN CANDY & STEVE MARTIN

Just returned from a journey from hell...& it took 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' to get me back.

Was away in Stockholm for the WeSC sales meeting where I was presenting the collection I had designed for the for AW'11. As usual Stockholm was excellent & the WeSC family were superb & held a most excellent event. I do love these people. But comes to my Scheduled time to leave & I am in a cab on my way to Arlanda to go home. Low & behold there is some snow in London & after sitting on my arse in the Airport for 5 hours the flight gets cancelled. So there I am heading back to Stockholm & the Mornington Hotel for another night.

I check again & head back to the airport on Sunday...'sorry Heathrow is closed so your flight is cancelled...sorry'

Monday, I check again & Heathrow is still closed so what the hell to do...this is getting a little silly now. I go into the WeSC office & plot at a desk & do some work etc. Mattias ( The Don ) manages to get through to the travel agent & has a word. They then look for a confirmed flight etc. An hour or so later I get the word, you are booked on a confirmed intenary of Stockholm-Copenhagen-London, leaving that evening. Excellent. I get to the Airport, check in...all is good. I get to the Gate only to find out that my flight to London is cancelled again because of fucking Heathrow. I then speak to the travel agent & ask them to get me on a flight from Copenhagen to any airport in the UK other than Heathrow. Gatwick is open, Birmingham is open, & Manchester is open. Confirmed 8.15am Copenhagen to Manchester.

I get to Copenhagen & end staying with some friends of mine which turned out to be a bit of a bonus, especially by this point I am coming down with a fever etc...not nice. Very nice to be with friends in Stockholm & then in Copenhagen. I make it to the airport...is this flight really going to go ? Yes it is, but we sat on the plane at the gate for 2 hours, then waited in line to be deiced & then we finally took off. I am feeling like shit by now...& to top it all I was not sre my bag would be on the plane as they could only locate where it was last seen, Stockholm & assured me that it would be on this plane now...well when we finally landed in Manchester & I was at the baggage hall...no fucking bag. Right now, still no bag...fuck knows when I will get it & I really hope I do as there are things in that bag that are unreplacebale & I really do not want to lose them...but hey...what you gonna do.

So train from Manchester, full of fever...I felt a little like Dustin Hoffman in Midnight Cowboy when they head down to Miami & he is dying on the Bus...ok myabe I am exagerating slightly...but you get me. Cab ride from Euston Station & I am home...how good it was to be home...jumped straight in my bed.

Thing that really upset me about this is in Stockholm & Copenhagen there was mountains of Snow & flights were coming & going with out a fucking problem, but the UK gets a little snow & we can't deal with it. Heathrow is meant to be one of the busiest airports in the world, but it can't handle some snow...that is a disgrace. & They BAA desreves all the shit it is & will continue to get. They call this place Great Britain...I think they need to reasses that name, because if this is what happens when we get a little snow...it is not Great. We have had 3 winters like this & you would think that they would get it sorted by now...but no...BAA would rather spend their money on Bonuses. Fuckers. Glad to see a thing on Channel 4 news last night about all the measures Gatwick took to clear up all their Snow & all that they are doing to make sure there are no delays or cancellations in the future. Embarrassed Heathrow & BAA have said that they need to step up their game...no, really, you think so. Fucking pricks.

The Snow in Copenhagen

This is how you clear Snow Heathrow !!!

The De-Icing was on point.

To be honest I do not want to get on a plane any time soon.

So there is my tale, my rant...all of it.

I want to give a big thanks to, Stash, Thomas, Mattias, Lucho, Asa, The Mornington Hotel, The Kornerup's in Copenhagen, Manchester Airport & Virgin Trains.

Be Well.

THANKYOU NIKE

A week or so ago I was doing some work with my adopted nephew Luke Monaghan...he showed me some pictures that he had done for a label he is working on, & there was this one Picture of Luke wearing this Black Peacoat with Leather Sleeves...now it is not often when I see something & go crazy & get that 'must have it feeling'. Well this jacket gave me that wanting feeling for sure.

I had seen one of these in Navy & Brown on Kish & thought it was rather nice, but this Black one was off the hook...so I made a few calls, & low & behold the last of the Black Nike Peacoats is on my Back...& it has not been off my Back since.

I would like to give a big thank you to Phoebe Lovatt & Ronojoy for making this happen...in the words of Jay Z 'Thankyou, Thakyou, you're to Kind' no really you are...

Be Well.
