COME & PLAY

Yes....

Sunny Day
Sweeping the, Clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet...

Sesame Street is 40 Years Old !!!

When I was a child way back the fuck when...I remember 3 TV shows that molded my childhood.

Sesame Street
The Electric Company
The Banana Splits

Sesame Street however was the one that I could not miss, I loved it...I still love it. My sister always wanted to be one of the Cast on Sesame Street...the human cast that is. Just wanted to clear that up.

People will say that it was way too American & it did not represent British Education, but I say who gives a fuck, I learned so much from Sesame Street, & more to the point it was one of the 1st kids shows that was Multi Racial.

It was Born in 1969, smack bang in the middle of the time of the Civil Rights movement in the US, & at the time was a ground breaking format. One of it’s main focuses was to give under privileged kids access to some form of Pre School education in the US. Pre School was an expensive thing at the time & many families could not afford these things. Sesame Street came along to help that.

I for one still remember so much & as I said before learned so much from Sesame Street. The songs & the characters helped me with my counting & my alphabet. Lets be honest it was way better than any of the stupid shows we had like Play School, PlayAway...Sesame Street treated their young audience with a little more respect. Well that is my opinion. I would rather learn counting from The Count than some one on Play School.

& Speaking of the Count there were so many amazing Characters on that show. Grover, The Cookie Monster, Oscar the Grouch, Big Bird...Ernie & Bert...way way too many characters on there & all that you could relate with or not.

Anyway, Happy Birthday Sesame Street, & thank you so much for all the fun & memories.

Be Well.

p.s. here is a link for a BBC Radio4 show about Sesame Street

For various reasons I couldn’t read or write until I was 10 Sesame Street gave me a lot of encouragement. There was no adult innuendo, it was just for kids!

funny, i borrowed sesame street ‘old school’ from the library last week for viva, she loves it.

They were showing you where milk came from and did a close up on the cows udders, vivas said “look mummy he has so many penis’s” i put her straight, then they showed a man milking the cow and squirting it straight into a kids mouth. Ew.

I’ve seen them filming on Bedford ave, it was cool.
